MMA&Muay Thai FAQ’s

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is new to the martial arts world. MMA is a sport that combines various martial arts styles and techniques for competition. Today MMA competition consists of rules and weight classes that make it safer for competition.

Q. – Will I get beat up when I participate in an MMA class at X-Factor?

A. – No. You will be able to train to your own ability. You may get tired and get a bruise now and then, but you will never be put in a position where you feel like you’re going to be seriously hurt.

Q. – What is a typical MMA class like?

A. – A typical class consists of a cardio work, technique overview/practice and sparring. The sparring consists of stand-up, clinch and ground stations.

Q. – What equipment will I need to participate in the MMA class?

A. – You will need to dress in grappling shorts or gi pants and a school shirt. You will also need MMA safety gloves, shin guards and mouth piece. A groin protector is recommended.

Muay Thai is the “Art of Eight Limbs” and originated in Thai Land. Muay Thai is a striking art that uses devastating kicks, knees, elbows and punches.

Q. – What is a typical Muay Thai class like at X-Factor?

A. – Our Muay Thai class consists of a cardio warm-up and is followed up with instruction and pad work.

Q. – Will I be required to do full contact sparring?

A. – The sparring is done typically in the MMA class and at a pace that you can handle and won’t get hurt at.

Q. – What equipment will I need to participate in class?

A. – Each student needs either Muay Thai shorts or grappling shorts, school shirt, boxing/Muay Thai gloves, shin guards and mouth piece. A groin protector is recommended.
